Big-Bag earthing control system

Newson Gale Earth-Rite FIBC

The Earth-Rite FIBC static earthing system is a revolutionary hardware system designed to ensure safe filling and emptying of type C big-bags (bags with conductive insert) used in hazardous areas.

The Earth-Rite FIBC was designed to meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, but the device is used in every industry.

System components

  • monitoring unit with an LED indicating the state of earthing (housing material – plastic or stainless steel on request), equipped with a pin for hanging/storing the clamp),
  • earthing clamp that provides a better connection for the flexible materials of the big-bags,
  • two-wire spiral cable in a protective hytrel casing of various lengths (the hytrel casing protects the cable against mechanical or chemical damage),
power supply unit in a GRP housing.

Important

When filling or emptying the flexible IBC type containers, earthing monitoring systems should be used to prevent product handling until the earthing system is connected to the container.

Principle of operation of the system

The monitoring clamp, which is almost completely isolated, except for the copper clamp, is connected to the lower earth point of the FIBC, thus creating a connection that allows the system to monitor the resistance of the FIBC to earth.

The controller verifies that the big-bag has been earthed correctly, i.e. that the electrostatic charges accumulated on it are properly discharged to earth. Correct earthing prevents electrostatic discharges, which can be a source of ignition and explosion of explosive atmosphere.

For electrostatic dissipating materials, select a system with a monitoring range appropriate to the container type. Type C FIBC containers shall be monitored with a resistance ≤ 1 x 108 Ω. For conductive or metallic materials, the resistance ≤ 10 Ω should be the value of the monitored resistance in combination with a designated earth point.

Electrostatic Earthing – the offer

Earthing control systems

Earth control systems
with process lock (tanks, big bags)

You can use them in the field of earthing monitoring of e.g. road tankers, railways, big-bags, as well as components of process plants. Earth-Rite systems verify easily and safely that the stored loads are properly discharged to the ground through a monitoring unit with a signal lightning diode. If the earthing is not performed properly, the controllers block the process.

Multiple elements earthing control system

Multiple elements
earthing control system

The MULTIPOINT II system is a device designed to control the earthing of up to 8 self-acting or interconnected system components at the same time. According to the guidelines of international standards for the control of unwanted static discharges, the correctness of earthing will only be confirmed by the system if the resistance of the earthing node on each channel is less than 10 Ω.

Clamps with earthing control

Clamps with earthing control
(IBC tanks, drums, big-bags)

We can offer you clamps with monitoring the state of earthing of barrels, tanks, etc. These solutions, in addition to earthing the equipment operating in production rooms, by means of a monitoring unit with a signalling diode, easily and safely verify that the charges accumulated on the equipment are properly discharged to earth.

Simple earthing clamps for single- and two-core cables

Clamps,
wires, spools

Earthing clamps can be used in two configurations – as a set of two simple clamps connected with each other by a spiral cable, or as a connection of the clamp to a earthed container and a ring clamp, which is located at the end of the cable, to a earthing strip.

The electrified human body is one of the most serious sources that pose a fire or explosion hazard in industrial conditions. An example of a solution that checks footwear for its ability to dissipate electrostatic charges before an employee enters an area with flammable atmospheres is the Sole-Mate shoe control system.
