The problems most frequently named by operation maintenance staff with regard to hazardous gases detec-tors (including ammonia) are relatively short gas sensor life cycle, possibility of poisoning, or sensor con-tamination, necessity to carry out frequent checks, cleaning, maintenance and replacement of the sensors.
