The Bulldog® is a compact, lightweight and robust portable fan heater certified for operation in Ex-zones (classified as Zone 1, 2, 21, and 22). These features make the Bulldog the first truly portable Ex-proof fan heater fit for operation in onshore industrial settings or offshore locations. The Bulldog weights 28 kg only and can be deployed on adjustable feet or castors for better mobility.

The fan heater is suitable for heating of moderately sized spaces. The hot air stream can be easily delivered to as far as 5 metres from the unit. The fan heater can optionally be fitted with flexible ducting to deliver hot air to remote rooms. The flexible ducting also improves the heating efficiency at very low outdoor temperatures (below zero).

Not only portable, but extremely compact in form for easy storage and transport. The fan casing and impeller are made of steel sheet coated with 30% PA66 polyamide polymer; the material shields electromagnetic interference and prevents electrostatic charge accumulation. The fan heater motor features an aluminium casing preserved with epoxy coating, and all electrical enclosures are made of stainless steel (reinforced Ex e enclosure) and anodized aluminium (flameproof Ex d enclosure).

The outer casing of the Bulldog® is designed not just to provide toughness and a long operating life. The casing geometry improves the air flow through the heater to provide optimum heating efficiency. As it is formed from polymer-coated steel sheet, the Bulldog® is tough and durable. The Bulldog can be placed blowing air at an angle by adjusting its feet which improves flexibility of its positioning; the compact form makes the fan heater easy to handle and store.

Depending on the fan heater model, the available power rating ranges from 2.75 kW to 6 kW. The following is the reference heating time required by a 6 kW fan heater to reach a target indoor temperature of 27°C, depending on the room size and characteristics:

• Indoor room with low thermal insulation, floor area 24 m 2; initial temperature -15°C; target temperature 27°C; room heating time: 22 min
• Indoor room with high thermal insulation, floor area 110 m 2; initial temperature 0°C; target temperature 27°C; room heating time: 52 min
