VQ flameless explosion venting system

To protect indoor machinery the VQ guarantees flameless venting and dust protection. No burnt or unburnt dust passes off. Even high temperature is reduced to a minimum. During normal venting an explosion is freely discharged, allowing flames and dust to exit from the process vessel. When the process is located indoors, ducts are generally used to convey the explosion outside the building.

However, the cost and options of implementing explosion vents and ducts are limited. The VQ is an ATEX approved flameless explosion vent (EC Certificate Number : INERIS 14ATEX0049X ). It be used with great effect indoors and outdoors. It is the best and easiest solution instead of cumbersome and expensive solutions with pipe installations to the open air. The VQ provides low pressure resistance effectively eliminating flame and heat emissions thereby easing indoor installation and positioning of relevant machinery.

The VQ is rectangular and connected with a standard rectangular bursting panel. The VQ is available in different sizes and is delivered with a burst sensor. The VQ is certified by the French notified body INERIS and will comply with the latest standard for Flameless Explosion Venting Devices : EN 16009 : 2011. STIF, the French manufacturer of the VQ, is ISO9001 certified.

Protection Concept

The result of the ATEX Audit is also a preliminary concept of protecting the installation from explosion. It allows estimating the costs of protections. After testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we move on to the final concept and design.

Design and selection of protections

After accepting the concept and testing the explosiveness parameters of the dust from the installation, we proceed to the final selection of explosion protections and create a design that takes into account all required changes in production.

“Turnkey” delivery and installation

We coordinate the entire delivery and installation process of protections. We have our own service teams with experience in performing installation without the need to stop the investor’s plant operation.

Execution of ERA and EPD

We conduct a post-implementation Explosion Risk Assessment (ERA) and prepare (or update) the Explosion Protection Document (EPD). We usually also conduct training for the crew in the field of explosive safety.
